Ari doesn’t lift

£55.00

Lombard RAC Rally 1984.

Towards the end of the 1984 World Rally season Peugeot Talbot Sport entered the Group B fray with lead driver Ari Vatanen, Team Principal Jean Todt and its diminutive Peugeot 205 T16. By the end of the season the 205, with Vatanen at the wheel, had not only won all three rallies it had entered but it had proved to the world, in this era of rallying supercars, it was the weapon of choice.

On the treacherous gravel roads of Wales, deep into the UK’s winter, the 350bhp mid-engined hot hatch cuts alittle too deep and hits a hidden compression. With tyres scrabbling for grip, gravel being shot into the forest, wastegate chirping, exhaust popping, and the headlights barely piercing the morning mist, Ari still drives the only way he knows how – on the absolute limit.
