Belgium Grand Prix, Spa Francorchamps, 1967.

For 1967 Lotus once again revolutionised Formula 1 through its partnership with Ford, Cosworth, and the introduction of the now legendary Ford DFV V8. Never one to sit still and shy away from innovation Colin Chapman not only secured this ground-breaking new engine but he also made it a stressed member within his new cars design, saving weight and simplifying its construction. On the Lotus 49’s debut outing at the Dutch GP in Zandvoort it not only secured pole through Graham Hill but it then went onto win the race with Jim Clark. The new Lotus 49 and Cosworth DFV went on to secure every pole position after its debut and notch up four Grand prix race wins.

Here Jim Clark powers up the hill out of Raidillon and onto the run down to Les Combes and beyond. The incomparable Scot secured pole at Spa by a staggering 3.1 seconds
